Artist Biography
Ebu Blackitude is a Birmingham-based producer and MC whose "skank-funk" sound has become a cornerstone of the UK's underground hip hop and bass lineage. Blending dub, reggae, bass and hip hop into something heavy and hypnotic, Blackitude has spent decades crafting a distinctive sonic palette that draws from the Caribbean-electronic tradition of Lee "Scratch" Perry and Mad Professor while pushing into contemporary bass territory.
As one quarter of hip hop group Gamma alongside Juice Aleem, and the primary producer behind Juice Aleem's acclaimed debut album Jerusalaam Come (2009, Big Dada), Ebu's productions have long provided the foundation for some of Birmingham's most respected lyricism.
Operating under the Shadowless Productions banner, he is now stepping forward as an artist in his own right, his own voice riding the same bass-heavy, dub-inflected grooves he has built his reputation on.
